How I Can Help You:

SAT/ACT Test Prep from a Wisdom Insider:

Want to see tests from the perspective of the test authors?
Want to know how to take advantage of multiple choice questions?
Want to feel confident and relaxed on the day of your exam?
If you answered Yes to these 3 questions then you need to meet with me!!

I recently spent three years working at the NYC Department of Education. During this time, I developed and managed a suite of standardized assessments for NYC public schools. I know how multiple choice questions work INSIDE AND OUT!!

What Do I Teach?
We will focus on algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Then we will read, write, and practice grammar together. We will have you ready to go for your SAT!

I use a combination of the Princeton Review as well as some of my own proprietary materials; in the event that a student has already purchased some materials, I’m happy to use those, in addition to or instead of my own.

My process:
My teaching is very student-centered. Students typically want to come back once a week when preparing for standardized tests, but it’s also fine to meet more frequently. I often recommend that students try longer classes, since they are preparing to take a 3-4 hour test – we need to build up mental stamina!

I typically have my students work through sample problems, introducing specific strategies for success. When necessary, I may lead a guided meditation to help with test anxiety, and build the mental resolve needed for test day.

What to expect at your first meeting:
At the first meeting, we will identify a student’s strengths and weaknesses. Then, we will identify their preferred learning style. This helps future sessions go much more smoothly. I will also spend time getting to know the student as a person!!

A Little Bit About Me:

I grew up in a family of teachers and mathematicians - teaching is in my blood. I graduated from the University of Chicago – majoring in math and music. I then obtained my post-graduate degree in teaching and math education at the University of Chicago, then another post-graduate degree in public health nutrition at New York University.

I’ve worked as a teacher of a wide variety of subjects at all age levels, including math, music, nutrition, cooking, fitness, health, and mindfulness. I have more than 10 years of experience teaching standardized test prep.

I am also a published author, a professional musician, an entrepreneur, and a meditation guide. I have no shortage of interests and passions! In my free time, I love to cook, read, sing, go hiking, and spend quality time with my husband and our cat.
